Can I obtain a birth certificate from the City?

The City of St. Clair Shores can provide certified copies of birth certificates for all home births within the City of St. Clair Shores back to 1913.

Birth certificates may also be obtained from Macomb County Vital Records or the State of Michigan Vital Records.

Who can get a copy of a birth certificate?


A mother or father only (whose name appears on the certificate) may obtain a copy of their child's birth record with proper (picture) identification. Any person age 15 years or over may obtain a copy of their own birth record with proper picture identification.

PROPER IDENTIFICATION includes a valid driver's license, state-issued identification, passport, or school identification. ID must provide your signature and picture.

COSTS: $15 – first copy; $7.50 for each additional copy ordered at the same time.
